After more than 25 years perched at the top of the Pompidou Center, Le Georges closed its doors definitively on September 22, 2025.
An emblematic place of the Beaumarly Group, it has been the scene of thousands of memories: after an exhibition, a family lunch, a romantic dinner or a drink with friends, always in a suspended setting, with a panoramic view of Paris, with a panoramic view of Paris, both breathtaking and intimate.
The Georges was the visionary work of the architects Jakob + MacFarlane, who knew how to dialogue between the “container” architecture of the Pompidou Center, its linear structures, and the organic interior alcoves, the fluid volumes, the terrace offering an immersion in the Parisian horizon.
In the kitchen, chef Claude Demoncuit used to offer a contemporary, tangy menu, combining exceptional products with a refined presentation.
Physical closure does not mean the end of Georges's spirit. Souvenirs to give as gifts are always available Giftshop, in order to take a bit of Georges with you.
If you are looking for other Beaumarly establishments or nearby that offer a superb view of Paris, or such a remarkable setting, here are our recommendations:
Under the arcades of the Louvre, facing the pyramid, combining luxury, historic elegance and contemporary atmosphere. An iconic terrace, refined French cuisine, lots of charm.
Located at 4 Avenue Victor Hugo (16th), this address is the group's new home. Careful design with MBDS, cozy atmosphere, daring cuisine combining French and Japanese influences.
On the banks of the Seine, facing the Eiffel Tower, La Plage Parisienne offers a spectacular terrace overlooking the water. An elegant and relaxed decor, designed by Martin Brudnizki, where people come to enjoy French cuisine with Mediterranean accents. Here, daylight and the reflections of the Seine mingle with the illuminations of the Eiffel Tower: a unique panorama, which extends the “view of Paris” spirit dear to Georges.
Just at the foot of the Pompidou Center, the Café Beaubourg, designed by the architect Christian de Portzamparc, offers a lively terrace that opens onto the museum square and captures the hustle and bustle of the Marais. Its large bright room, its airy volumes and its generous brasserie menu make it an ideal address at any time: to observe the neighborhood, have brunch on Sundays or extend a Parisian evening.
The Georges — PERMANENTLY CLOSED
Dominique Jakob and Brendan MacFarlane form a duo of Franco-New Zealand architects and designers based in Paris. Their agency, founded in 1998, explores an organic, fluid and daring architectural language, often in dialogue with existing structures and the urban horizon.
For Beaumarly, in 2000, they signed the restaurant Le Georges, perched at the top of the Pompidou Center. Conceived as an architecture within architecture, the space is distinguished by its sculptural aluminum and plexiglass alcoves, its futuristic curves and its large panoramic terrace. The ensemble interacts with the visionary building by Piano and Rogers, offering an experience suspended between design and the Parisian sky.
